China’s Trade Disputes and WTO Disputes on TRIPS

Description and Requirements:
1. The course will be conduced in English.
2. It will be divided into two parts.
3. The first part will be on China’s trade regimes by reviewing disputes under the WTO with China as the respondent. Many of these disputes have been settled. But a comprehensive review will help us knowing the trade practices of China. The disputes are listed below. Participants responsible for reporting the disputes will explain to the class about the nature and the status of the disputes. They will also make comments thereupon. Depending on the number of participants, there will be two to four persons responsible for each dispute, with DS372, 373 and 378 being counted as one dispute; DS538 and 539 as one; and DS339, 340 and 342 as one. We will spend three weeks on these disputes.
